Federal Financial Assistance for ABA

When first confronted with an Autism diagnosis it can be daunting for parents and family members. While getting guidance from CABS ABA therapy specialists can help, there are other ways to find support, specifically financial support for autism.  We’ve listed federal assistance programs for autism here so that you and your family can thrive. 

The following are Federal programs in place to aid in the financial funding of autism treatment.

  • The Supplemental Security Income (SSI): This program provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability or blindness whose financial status is below a specific limit. The payment amounts vary depending on living arrangements and countable income. This program is in place to help pay for basic needs, including food, clothing, and shelter. 

  • Medicare: A federal health insurance program that can help people over the age of 65, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. There are multiple parts to Medicare which are the plans offered, and each offers certain coverage.

  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI): This federal program pays disability payments to you or certain family members if you cannot work due to a medical condition expected to last longer than 12 months.

AUTISM Non-Profit Services and Organizations

Sometimes financial help for autism can be hard to come by, so despite many of these programs being out of state, you can still apply for financial assistance for autism through grants provided by these non profit organizations. These range from fiscal to tools such as iPads for learning as well as books. The list below can help guide you for financial aid.

Autism Care Today provides grants to families that are impacted by autism. Funding assistance is provided to families quarterly, distributing funds for treatment products and services through their wide range of programs.

United Healthcare Children’s Foundation offers financial support to families of children with a disability, including autism. Medical expenses may be eligible to apply for a grant which can help pay for services and treatment. Anyone can apply as long as they meet their criteria..

 Anchor of Hope Foundation is an organization that provides financial and spiritual support, resources, and services to individuals with disabilities and their families.  

 Autism Cares Foundation is an organization that raises funds to improve the life experiences of children, teens, and adults with special needs. They host several events and programs and offer several adult services and resources.

 The People Project, formerly the Huckleberry Foundation, provides financial assistance to families with children who need therapy for special needs, mental health, and sexual abuse. TPP offers recreational programs, tuitions, therapies, safety-related items, and more to children with disabilities and their families.

 Giving Angels Foundation is a foundation whose mission is to assist special-needs children aged 21 and younger from lower-income families. Grants are awarded to families on a case-by-case basis to enhance the lives of the children.

 Friends of Man is a charity that helps people of all ages with a wide variety of needs, including mobility equipment, daycare, clothing, and much more. They have a number of programs in place to aid anyone who is in need.

 Danny's Wish provides resources to families and children with autism spectrum disorders. Their iPad for Autism campaign provides children with a way to communicate simple wants and needs. 

The Chrysalis Fund organization provides grants to improve childhood learning, and development Proposals from public school special needs teachers are generally prioritized.

The Maggie Welby Foundation is a charity that assists children in experiencing life to the fullest. They seek to aid students in grades K-12 and families in financial need. The foundation offers scholarships that can help pay for your child's tuition.

iPad For Kids Program is a program offered through the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. It provides financial assistance for autistic individuals to attend a summer film camp to express their creativity. The program has unlocked the communication barrier for children on the spectrum.

The  Modest Needs organization works to provide short-term financial assistance to individuals and families in temporary crisis, lessen the burden of state and federal agencies charged with the care of the truly indigent, and promote compassion and generosity on the part of the individual persons living in the United States and Canada. They offer a number of grants that can be applied for on their website.
